July 5, 2012 - June, 2012 sales figures were released today by the Toronto Real Estate Board. The 905 area - with it's lower prices and lower Land Transfer Tax - continued to outperform the City of Toronto, though overall market activity was off somewhat as unit sales in the Condominium sector fell 18% year-over-year.
While the 905 showed modest growth in sales of Freehold homes, sales contracted in the 416. Condo sales in the City were off 18% and off 20% in the 905.
Average prices were up 7.3% overall to $508,622 year-over-year - though prices were off $516,350 average.
A similar price drop occurred last year, however, from $485,362 in May, 2011, to $474,223 in June, 2011.
Active Listings were up marginally over May, 2012's 20,462 - but up 13.7% on a year-over-year basis.
