June 18, 2012 - TREB's sales statistics for the 1st fourteen days of June were released today and reflected flat unit sales on a year-over-year basis - though the average price continued higher to $516,834 - an increase of more than 8% versus the $477,025 average for the year-earlier period.
New listings were up 16% year-over-year.
Interestingly, strong growth continued in the areas surrounding the City of Toronto - versus the City itself - a trend which some sttribute to the "Toronto Land Transfer Tax". Given that the tax has been in place for some time and is only now "affecting prices", the difference in trends may have more to do with overall affordability - and/or other factors - than the "TLLT" specifically.
